HOW DO I GET OUR PUBLIC SERVICE
ANNOUNCEMENTS READ ON THE AIR? PSA Tips:
- Make your PSA's printing large and easily
readable.
- Email your PSA to: info@kedu.us. with
PSA in the subject line. Be sure to include start and end dates
.
- You can also hand deliver or mail the PSA to our
studios at Suite 16, The Gazebo Center, 2117 Sudderth, Ruidoso, NM
88345.
- Write your information in a format that can be
read over the air, not as a list of details. Shorter, less complex
sentences are better.
- Give simple contact information that can be both
read and remembered easily, not multiple names and numbers.
- Do not make editorial comments about your
event–just the who, what, where, when, and why. Don’t make it sound
like KEDU is taking a position on your issue.
- Ticket prices cannot be read on the air unless it
is a benefit for KEDU or your organization is also a 501(c)(3) public
non-profit corporation.
- The total length should be such that it can be
read in 60 seconds or less (about 100 words maximum). Extra details for
those who call in can be added at the bottom. Always include one
contact phone number for folks to call and get more information–i.e.
ticket prices or fees.
- Phonetically spell out any questionable
pronunciations, particularly names.
Following these guidelines carefully makes it more
likely that a DJ or host will read your PSA on the air.
